What’s with the Lamppost?
This is the lamppost in Narnia, from C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. During the creation of Narnia, the White Witch, who eventually casts an infinite winter over the land, threw an iron bar removed from a lamppost (brought into Narnia from London) at the lion Aslan, the creator of Narnia, and it fell to the ground and grew into a lamppost. This lamppost is one of the first things a stunned Lucy see’s after stumbling through an enchanted wardrobe and into the wintery world of Narnia. The lamppost stands proudly, always lit, marking a mysterious gateway between worlds.
Daniel and I have decided to draw upon The Chronicles of Narnia as a theme for our wedding. If you have never read the books (which I haven’t until recently), I’d definitely recommend it, or you can check out the recent film The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
